What does Judaism mean to us, the newest owners of the oldest tradition?

The Mekom Torah High School program is for
  • people who like to ask hard questions and explore honest answers.
  • people who care about other people, and about their own impact on the world.
  • people who like being Jewish and want to have fun with other people who like being Jewish.
  • people who would like to know more about Jewish music, Jewish movies, Jewish books.
  • people who want to experience how Judaism builds a bridge from the ancient past to the present moment.
  • people who want to know the grown-up version of Judaism.

A typical day:
  • We will start precisely at 4:00 with our opening activity.
  • Each week there will be one rich, challenging study session, on Torah, Jewish history, Jewish culture, or Jewish thought. These sessions involve talking, looking, acting, thinking, arguing, and laughing. We want to show you the surprising parts of the tradition that you may not have seen in Hebrew school!
  • After break, students will choose from electives such as studying Hebrew, watching and discussing movies, doing art, music, and writing projects, and exploring Jewish spiritual practices, such as prayer and meditation. These options will change over the year, based on input from students.
  • There will be lots of delicious snacks involved.
