Downtown Lunchtime Torah
| Meeting Time: | Every other Thursday, 12:00 to 1:30pm. Pre-High Holiday Warm-up on Sept 18, 2011. Regular season begins Thur, Oct 27, 2011. |
| Meeting Place: | Locations are announced weekly to participants. All meetings are held in Center City, Philadelphia, within a few blocks of City Hall. |
Sitting around the conference table over Torah, all barriers come down and everybody’s voice is equal:
distinguished doctors and student interns;
lawyers, financial wizards, and office managers;
scientists and chefs.
We are all trying to understand the meaning of the powerful texts of our tradition, giving ourselves the delightful gift of a break from the mundane.
This year we will begin with a focus on Midrash - ancient rabbinic interpretations of the Bible. As the group develops and interests emerge, we will be free to explore other areas of interest.
