Opening Hebrew (On hiatus this year)
After two years of successful learning, this class is taking a break. The students who took the class were thrilled by the results. They are now able to participate in eervices and Torah study with a new appreciation for the nuances of the language.
If you are interested in learning Hebrew, please contact Rabbi Helen Plotkin. Perhaps we can re-run this class or design another. here is the description of Opening Hebrew:
Intimacy with the Hebrew language helps you find your way to richer Jewish life. Whether for prayer, for Torah, or for Israel, learning to understand the words changes everything. This class is an introduction to the grammar and structure of the Hebrew language, using the vocabulary of the prayer book. The class is designed to make learning Hebrew accessible for people who work, for parents, for adults who are not about to morph into college students. It is designed to connect learning Hebrew with what you already know about being Jewish. Everything you learn in this class is groundwork for Modern Hebrew, and also for Biblical Hebrew. Whatever your goals, this is the place to start.
